Frontex Sends “Illegals” Back Home

Frontex recently made its first charter flight to deport undocumented immigrants. 56 Georgians were sent back to their country of origin. Immigration, and minorities, are unpopular in Europe but high-profile deportations such as this can be make the public uncomfortable. There are notably the cases of the Roma deportations from France and return of migrants from Afghanistan (to face the war there).

The Deputy Director of the agency said the new charter flights “will come as a relief to national governments who will no longer have to ‘carry the burden’ of negative pubic opinion, embarrassment and disapproval prompted by collective repatriation”. Well, so long as the functionaries of a not-exactly-popular institution know they are actively undermining said institution by taking on unpopular duties…
